I have been wanting to make my hair a little darker, but I didn't want to put chemicals in it and damage it. So I got on the computer and did a little research on google. There are a couple of ways to naturally darken your hair.
Coffee/Black tea
For this I haven't tried the black tea, but currently my hair is soaking in the coffee mixture.
All I did was make a pot of coffee, with a little more coffee grins than usual. You need to let it cool, so put it in the fridge. (I Didn't let mine cool completely, and it kind of burned...ouch) I washed and conditioned my hair and then I squeezed all the extra water out. I then took a bowl and put it under my hair. I poured the coffee over my hair and let it fall into the bowl. I did this repeatedly like 6 times. You probably should do it more, but I was getting impatient. You also can do this over the sink, I just did it in the shower because it can get a little messy. I dried it with a towel and tied it in a pony tail. I let mine stay in the towel because I didn't want coffee dripping everywhere. I've done this before with a shower cap, and it dripped A LOT..
During my research I read that after a couple hours you can rinse out the coffee, but I'm going to see what happens if I leave it in overnight.. Plus, I am not staying up until midnight on a school night. No thanks.
I read that sometimes this takes a few rinses before it finally starts to set in. I will make a follow up blog to show a before and after and how many times I had to do the coffee rinse before it made my hair dark.
PS. This has made my hair super shiny and silky, after an hour I can already tell!
Sage leavesI had heard of the coffee mix before, but I had never heard about sage leaves!! I decided to try a mini mix of it tonight! I didn't even know that I had sage leaves in my spice cabinet, but I guess I did!
You need to boil 2 cups of water and 1/2 a cup of sage leaves and then let it sit and simmer for 30 minutes. Then you need to strain out the sage leaves. This was a hard task for me.. But it is crucial to get all the little pieces out otherwise it will get stuck in your hair. (I learned this the hard way....)
You can add some apple cider vinegar..(I did) and then you just pour it all over your hair
Henna
I will post more about this if I ever decide to try it..
I will let you all know in the morning or the following weeks how my hair darkening process goes.
Thanks for reading!
